There's a considerable amount of information available to consumers discussing how health plans can keep their grandfathered status. Assurant Health, one of the companies we represent, recently published this video discussing the actions that may result in maintaining or losing your grandfathered status.Individual medical plans with policy effective dates on or before March 23, 2010 are considered "grandfathered" and are exempt from certain requirements of the law. This date marks the Congress-enacted Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).
Although we anticipate more information addressing grandfathered plans to come out in the future, check out www.healthcare.gov for additional information on this topic.
